This old, almost completely collapsed hut decided to buy Richard Aiken.
This 65-year-old man all his life dreamed of settling in the bosom of nature, but he was able to decide on such an extreme act only at such a venerable age. “The children have grown and now you can think about yourself,” Richard said firmly to his friend and they both engaged in choosing the right site.
“I always thought that my dream would be too expensive for me,” Richard later shared, and I never could have thought that everything would turn out in such a wonderful way! “
When a friend showed him this old hut, the man already knew exactly what to do next. The frame of the house completely rotted. It was something incomprehensible and looked pretty dangerous.
The roof was also almost completely absent.
The owner was ready to give the house for free. Richard still paid $ 100, he already imagined what could be done from this place.
First he removed the rubble and sorted every piece of wood. This will help him then collect everything together.
The location was perfect! Later Richard’s family discovered a nearby spring.
They had to use bulldozers, they dug out the pond, made a beautiful outbuilding.
It’s time to start restoring the hut. The new owner wanted to preserve the original type of construction. In fact, it is not as easy as it seems.
White oak was used for joints with the floor, the tile was made of cedar. Of course, an integral part of every such house is a fireplace.
A fine mesh was used to fill holes in the walls.
Doors and windows have been specially designed and manufactured by a carpenter.
Not bad, is it?
The house is illuminated naturally during the day, the chandelier helps illuminate the house at night.
This bed looks just fine! The family can cook right here. What about the photo “before and after”? Aiken took 10 years to completely restore this place. This is worth it! What do you think about this cozy corner? And here is the whole friendly family. Would you like to have such a house?
